If you had been following my tweets, then you may have known that I had been lusting for a new mobile phone. Even after I've posted some of my phone choices several months ago, I promised myself that I will only buy a new one when my old Motorola V3i conks out.
It doesn't seem to want to conk out, though!
It's a great phone, but with my use of Twitter and Wi-fi getting more and more available everywhere, I was getting frustrated with it. I certainly couldn't use it to quickly check my email or write a quick tweet.
I was torn between getting a Nokia E71 and a HTC Viva, but then I suddenly found out through the internets that the Blackberry is being slowly introduced in the country.
Obviously, the Blackberry won.
It's such a lovely piece of mobile qwerty candy. I got myself the Curve 8520, with it's amazing trackpad.
I can now regularly check my blog, Facebook, update Twitter and even search on Yahoo. This internet addict is very happy indeed!
I haven't signed up my mobile to the Blackberry network yet, though. I'm still trying to figure out how far I can go without emailing all the time. The lowest subscription package on Globe is for Php700 for 5MB every month.
I've got this unit on the cheap -- I don't think I will ever spend an insane amount on a silly mobile phone.
However, I've learned you can get the Curve 8520 prepaid pack from Globe at only P14,995! That's ridiculously cheap, compared to the lowest amount I got quoted for a Nokia E71, which is P16,000++.
Several years ago, we all wanted the hottest mobile phones available -- having the latest model made you instantly popular and cool. So you change models whenever you could and it didn't matter if the one you're using is still working fine.
Well, I've gotten older, wiser and more practical now. I've been using the same Motorola V3i for three years running and have promised myself to replace it only when it conks out.
It's quite sturdy though, as I don't know how many times I've dropped it and it's still working! Sometimes I wish it dies suddenly so I'll have an excuse to buy a new one. And WHY would I want a new one? I'm just fed up of it, that's all.
Being practical about purchases such as mobile phones, doesn't really spare me the gadget envy. Especially if there are so many cool models out at the moment.
Did you know that you can get awesome gadget reviews on YouTube? Just take a look at this one for the Nokia E75 (it's my dream phone of the moment). The other two videos are reviews for the LG KS 360 and the Nokia E71 -- yes, I'm lusting at phones with QWERTY pads. Tsk.
Soooooooooooo... I wonder how many people will continue to come back here if I didn't update everyday?
When life gives me bucket-loads of stuff to do, it's regrettable that I couldn't post anything significant here.
But I do use my Twitter all the time, so if you guys wanna keep it touch --
Just follow me on Twitter.
Frustrated Sosyalera wants to buy new threads but can't because she's still in debt after purchasing her new netbook which, by the way, she hasn't used for 2 days in a row now.
Ladies & gentlement, this is what you call Buyer's Remorse.
I had weeks to deliberate whether to continue buying it or to just forget about it, but you know which argument won. I couldn't pay for it in cash, because I didn't have enough, so I had the whole damn cost swiped into my abused Master Card.
Regret it, I did. I could've just waited until I had enough cash, but looks like I couldn't wait any longer.
The result is a much lighter wallet, eventhough it's a big one.
But rather than sell it on, I've decided to earn back the money I will be spending on huge credit card bills by way of paid posts.
Yes, Frustrated Sosyalera is now a sell-out. But I guess I've always been anyway because I've nearly sold my soul to the devil to get that darn Gucci bag and look where it got me.
Oh well, I better get crackin'. Leave me a note here, will yah? It'll alleviate my depression if only for a little bit.
As I don't think I stand a rat's ass chance of winning the Sony VAIO that I sold my soul for last December, I'm thinking of getting one of these in the next several weeks --
A Lenovo Ideapad S10 wtf!
It's small, but with a whopping 160G of internal memory, dagnabit. Features here.
Of course, if the powers that be do decide to give me that VAIO anyway, I will wholeheartedly let this laptop go. Hehe! I mean, come on. What idiot will refuse a VAIO???
I don't really bother with my Friendster account very much, as I've gotten a little bored with it.
So after a few days' absence, I've checked my account today. Everything seems in order until I saw my profile.
Amidst all the Christmas greetings, my testimonials section was littered with these --

The DOLT that I can be sometimes.
I had left my mobile at home yesterday and only realised it when I sat down on my office chair that morning.
I'm incommunicado people! No text, no calls, no messages from my network -- nada!

However, I couldn't be bothered to go back to the flat and get it because I needed to go to my parent's house that night. It's my dad's birthday, after all, and that's more important.
Therefore -- no mobile for 2 days straight!
Will I make it or will I be left shuddering due to panic attacks???
I had no idea yesterday if my sisters were calling about the birthday party. I didn't know if we were going home together or what. I tried calling one of them (via the office landline) to find out but she wouldn't answer the bloomin phone, so I had to tell the bf to text her that I going straight to my parents' house.
One of my colleagues were running late, and as he usually texts me if he is then I had to ask somebody to call him if he had texted me that he will be late. He said he thought I was annoyed that he was late because I didn't reply to his text. Well, I couldn't possibly reply, could I?
Good thing I had my iPod with me last night. The trip home would've been boring otherwise.
Today, I jumped out of bed rather quickly. Because I was late. Because I use my mobile as my alarm and my mobile isn't here. Therefore, my arse is late (I tried using the alarm in my iPod but went off for 30mins and I didn't hear a peep. A lot of good that did me).
I conclude, then, that I WILL survive not having a mobile.
But that would mean I would have to make too many unnecessary phone calls and that I will always be late.
