Being the big contest whore that I am, I just couldn’t resist joining that MTV Asia one. I’m busy as heck, but the call of the $500 monthly allowance was just too loud. Hahaha! I’m penniless, remember? I’d do anything to get a little bit of extra.
Sooooo, the deadline’s today. I’ve manage to write something down and since I’m quite adept at complaining, I answered the one about the fashion pet peeves.

Hi, my name is Emz and I'm a shopaholic.
There are two kinds of shopaholics. There's one who shops too frequently and one who shops compulsively. I belong to the latter.
I wasn't always this foolhardy with my money. It all started when I moved to the UK for a time. I was single, earning a reasonable amount, had virtually no friends and homesick (a very, very DANGEROUS combination of elements).
I had only ONE friend at the time and she taught me the ways of the obssessive shopper. I had a mentor, wouldjabelieveit???
Our motto is this:
If you find something you like, go home and sleep on it. If you can't sleep thinking about it, buy it the next day, or someone else could beat you to it and then you'll be bawling your eyes out.
I've never ever forgotten those words. It's rubbish advice,but somehow it has made its way to my subconscious and never left.
So now, when I know I want something and I know where to find it, I think about it all the time (To buy or not to buy?). I spy on it in the shops every chance I get. I daydream about it day AND night. I inject it into conversations even if they don't fit.
For things like clothes or shoes, this will only take a couple of days before I reach a decision. For more expensive stuff, the whole process will take weeks, even MONTHS before I take action. That may seem wise, but only on the outside. Because more often than not, I'm building a list of excuses to buy the darned thing. So by the time I've built up my list of excuses, I finally convince myself that I need the thing to function properly as a member of society.
So even if I save my money, I will find a way to get rid of all my savings in one go. There was a point when my uncle had cut up my Next store card because I had bought too much stuff with it. A store card is a kind of credit card that you can only use in a specific store. Stay away from them, they are eeeeevil!
And the fruits of this addiction-slash-obsession? Behold:
A £70 cardigan that I can only imagine wearing here in the tropics.
Shoes that have never left the bedroom since they arrived from the shops.
A netbook that I thought I needed. But now that I've got it, I don't get a chance to use it. Pfttt.
Clothes that don't really fit (because they were bought online).
A Php 39,600 bill on my credit card...
And a yet-to-be-built condo unit. (This purchase is the best example of my shopping instincts gone haywire, because I've decided on a whim. Whoop-diddle-dee-doo.)
I've been seeing the book "Confessions of a Shopaholic" scattered all over the bookstores long before this contest and was on the verge of buying it (if not for my towering credit card bill), because I'm curious if Rebecca Bloomwood fares better than I do. But as the film is being shown soon I might as well just skip the book and see the film first (my wallet will thank me for it).

When I found out that I had a VIP invite to the Sony Expo at the SMX Convention Centre that happened 6th December, I was ECSTATIC!
Having this badge stuck to my chest really made me feel like I'm in the big league. Hehehe
As I roamed around the expo, I realised that I was walking through techie heaven.
I've spent a considerable amount of time just drooling over the LCD television sets.
There was even a mini-cinema where you could go in and see how good the Sony home theatre system is. I. WANTS. EET.
The expo showcased the very best that Sony has to offer.
Informative demos were made...
And the Sony Expo staff were extremely helpful.
Everywhere I look, I was saying "I want that!" or "OMG,I like this one!" or "That is sooooo amazing!"
Just like the World's first Organic LED TV. It's so organic, I swear it's edible.
Or the World's Thinnest LCD TV.
This is how thin it is.
And oh, have I mentioned the cars?
Hot. HOT. HAWT!!!
I'm taking a liking to this pink one.

You know, I think I could get used to this.
The most amazing bit on this expo is the fact that Sony has proven so many times that they are one of the world leaders in technological advancements.
Take, for example, these 8 Sony World Breakthroughs ---
They are all so awesome, but my all-time dream would be to own the TG1 Handycam. It's tiny, slim and it's FULL HD -- it needs no convincing.
Of course, my favorite part of the Sony Expo 2008 was when I won "Commendable Post" for the My First Sony Experience blog contest, along with Dale and Ms Lena.
Got this nifty little Walkman --- lovetttt! Thanks to Sony & Nuffnang! Being appreciated makes me feel all tingly in the tummy (or maybe I'm just hungry? Can't tell, really. Hehe!)
Sad to say, my post wasn't as brilliant as Mr Mike Pamero's, but it's no contest. The best man won!
The program was hosted by the guys of Magic 89.9's Boys Night Out and KC Concepcion.
And for some reason, I became part of a game with other individuals from the media. We had to run around the hall and take photos of the Sony items on our list. There goes my lunch!
Even if we lost, there were more freebies for me so I'm not complainin!
Mind you, it was tough trying not to get drool on the gadgets I was salivating over.
And before going home I was actually wondering how I'll be able to afford them all. My credit card will just not be able to handle it!
