The First Adventure of the Cooking Sosyalera

I can't cook.

No really, I can't.

My best recipe is tuna pasta (boiled pasta with onions then mixed with tinned tuna & sweet corn). It's nice, but not exactly impressive. The only cooking involved there is boiling the pasta.

So imagine my panic when the boyfriend told his friends that I'm cooking for them when they come over.

I was planning on cooking for just the two of us because I'm experimenting with a recipe my sister gave me and have never attempted to do it before, so suddenly doing it for 6 people is rather daunting.

Why am I so terrified?

This is my fried egg with tomatoes, people. It's all burnt out and quite unappealing. I nearly wept in shame. How can something that's supposedly so easy to make, go so horribly wrong??? Tell me! Whyyyyy???

Therefore, it was with much trepidation that the Cooking Sosyalera started to make the Shrimp Pasta in Cheesy Garlic Sauce.

I started to prepare at around 6pm and I was expecting the guests to arrive at 7. I thought I had enough time, until I realised that I had to de-vein the shrimps first before cooking them. I'm such an idjit!

I chopped enough garlic to kill all the vampires in the universe and mixed in enough cheese and butter to fatten up Angelina Jolie in the sauce, poured and tossed the linguini then voila!

My cheesy garlic masterpiece!

Ok, I'm not much for presentation, but this is my first attempt, people. Be kind, yeah? The boyfriend said it was good, so did our friends so I really feel like I've accomplished something. Whew! I was so relieved.

I think the only problem was that the shrimps had shrunk so much that they became alamang (good enough for shrimp paste).

there's nothing wrong with your fried egg. sprinkle some basil herbs on it and then garnish with three leaves of parsley at the side. then it will look much appealing.

i don;t know how to cook either. but i learn a lot from my friends. most of the time, presentation comes first.
