As Lindsay Lohan was on her way to the VIP room at Champs-Elyses in Paris with Samantha Ronson last Friday, a rabid PETA supporter emptied an entire bag of flour on La LiLo's teen star head and shouted "Lindsay Lohan, fur-hag!" to her face.
This was because LiLo was seen earlier in the week, wearing multiple fur-coats, and angering many PETA activists.
Pissed off girlfriend Samantha Ronson retaliated by posting a statement on her MySpace account saying:
"There is a fine line that distinguishes the difference between exercising our freedom of expression and offending others, for example the debate regarding freedom of speech vs. hate speech.... i feel that this principle should apply to protestors also. It's a pity that some groups feel the need to assault people as opposed to fighting with words."
Read her full statement here.
When it comes to the subject of wearing fur, I would much rather go faux than know that my coat used to be running around the woods and looking for nuts.
However, I think throwing things at other people just to get your point across is rather uncivilised -- even barbaric. Maybe Lindsay Lohan getting flour in the face is justice to some (for many, many other reasons possibly), but it just goes to show how cuckoo some activists are.
Just think about it. That PETA lady was lurking around on the sidewalk with a bag of flour at 1 o'clock in the bloody morning! At winter time!!! Doesn't she have anything better to do?!?

I'm all for animal rights but the majority of PETA supporters freak me out. Did you hear about the petition in...Switzerland? for cafes to use human breast milk instead of cow's milk? True story! Also? Blecchh.

November 18, 2008 at 3:39 PMI thought Lindsay was used to powder in her face?
November 18, 2008 at 8:46 PMBut you are right, I think the physical acts such as flour and, in some cases, paint are crossing the line.

we have PAWS (Philippine Animal Welfare Societ), but it's more active on the food industry because people here don't need furs for fashion -- it's hot enough already. hehe!
