I was listening to a radio interview during the Boys Night Out program last night about local "pick-up artists." These are basically normal-looking guys (their group is called Attraxtion Arts, by the way, which sounds like a lame name to me) that have found ways to pick up women (who would normally just ignore them) and have elevated it into an art form.
This isn't new. If any of you are familiar with the book The Game, then this is the exact same thing. It is basically one big mind game.
The guy that was being interviewed was saying that women basically get to choose men who have high value with qualities such as being rich, successful career, good looking and fit. So this apparently normal-looking guy has had to resort to using tactics to get women and that these pick-up artists are actually "balancing out" the local dating scene.
That is utter BULLSHIT.
Don't get me wrong. I do understand why some guys need to do this. They probably doubt themselves and need a bit more confidence or the right approach to get girls to notice them, which is absolutely fine. I'm just not sold on the idea that having pick-up artists balances out the dating scene.
First of all, women can't absolutely take their pick of men without looking like sluts. They usually get to choose only if they have a choice in the first place -- like there is already more than one guy that is attracted to her.
Now if the normal-looking guys go after the pretty girls, then that leaves the normal-looking girls out. Should they start studying pick-up artistry too?
I don't really have any problem with the actual game. In fact, I think it's pretty interesting. I have personally seen these tactics work (ehem, you know who you are), but I guess I just don't like the guy being interviewed -- he just sounds so full of it and it irks me to no end.
The "entire Philippine Seduction Community" (how they can say that with a straight face is commendable) is apparently having a get-together tomorrow and I'm very tempted to go have a look.
If women knew about all the stretegies that these geezers use, then what is the point in all of it? It would be a hell of a lot more fun if women could spot these tactics and do some counter moves, doncha think? I fear for future generations -- the love game is becoming so much more complicated.
Maybe somebody's already done that? I better go trawl the internetz and see. Hehe!
