Let's roll away our stones

I'm still a U2 junkie at the moment, but I'm allowing myself to open up to different types of music recently -- it helps to keep my feet on the ground.

If there's is such a thing as emo folk rock, then I'd say Mumford & Sons will fit the bill perfectly. I'm not a big fan of folk, country or bluegrass, but these guys sure got me hooked.

I've gone to watch a bluegrass band play one time (I was with "very mature" friends)and right then & there I swear I'd fall out of my chair out of boredom. I've decided it's not for me.

Certainly, Mumford & Sons is very much different from that band (they're a lot younger, that's for sure), but more than the music, it's the how they've written the lyrics to their songs that got me listening. They're pure poetry and I painfully wish I could churn out lines like they do. Very inspiring stuff, I tell yah. Their words just have such a powerful effect on me and for some reason they hit me on a really deep level (otherwise, I wouldn't be blabbering about them like this).

I would really love to see these guys live. Wonder how, though? *think think*

Breathe!

I feel like I've been running around headless for a whole month and that it's only now that I really got a chance to sit down and start take note of things. Buuuuut since Christmas is only a cartwheel away now and there's some kind of pressure looming at the top of my head. *sigh*

There is certainly no rest for the wicked... as well as for the not-so-young and inexplicably restless like me.

I hadn't been posting in a while because I had been away for a few days --

The Sydney Opera House (in case you don't recognise it from my photo).

There is so much to tell! Until I manage to get my thoughts organised, though, it might be some time before relay all of them here. But will make sure to get 'round to it very soon.

The Search

I'm in U2 mode at the moment, sort of like a cram session. Won't say any more than that for now.

I've claimed that their "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" is the story of my life, it's strange that I've only contemplated on its significance recently.

Everyone's life is based on some kind of search -- love, truth, justice, financial freedom, equality, respect and so many others. From where I'm standing, they don't seem to end. Once you reach your destination or your goal, something else always crops up.

I wonder, how many can claim contentment, settle and sing Survivor's "The Search is Over?" Cheesiness ensues.

Nalusuan Island Resort from Dusk til Dawn

I was pleased to have brought my cameras to
Nalusuan Island. I've used my Nikon, Sony T70 and even my Blackberry to take photos. The scenes are just that breathtaking. I hardly slept because I wanted to make the most of every possible scene during my stay.

Here are my sunset favourites --

That's my friend wading through the sand bar at low tide.

Sunsets are best for silhouette shots.

I just love those colours! ^_^

The same boat from the first photo.

My friends doing "YMCA." Good thing there's only four of them. hahaha

To get the following sunrise shots, I had to wake up at around half 5 in the morning. Sound tough?

It's not so difficult once you open the balcony doors.

There was a lot of waiting goin on.

The starfish in the water underneath my balcony.

Even my bathroom window had a role to play.

The pier.

I've finally gone outside the cottage. Very nippy! Unfortunately, there was no sun -- it was hiding behind a big-ass cloud. Very disappointing.

Aaaaand I nearly dropped my camera.

The sun rising over the island.

The token camwhore photo!

A stalled dream

While this site has been gathering dust, there has been a point where I just threw caution to the wind and took a chance at learning fashion design. Why fashion design? Well, I realised how I actually hated shopping and just wanted to be able to make the clothes I wanted to wear instead of going out to look for them in the shops.

It's been decades since I last held a pencil to draw, and there I was, trying to sketch naked female figures.

I took evening classes, which meant I had tons of drawings to do on top of my work. Suffice it to say, I got monumentally stressed out.

Work on the right, drawing materials on the left. Oh, the agony.

My sketches weren't all that great either.

I didn't take any further classes because I had a really tough time juggling work and class projects. But I've decided to continue sometime in the New Year. Will have to think about sacrificing my Saturdays then, I suppose.
