White stripes

On the shuttle bus to work last week, I was sitting behind this girl with nice shiny hair. Halfway through the journey, I see something peeking out from the top of her head...

A single strand of white hair.

I was mesmerised like a moth to candlelight -- I can't take my eyes off it. I know it's rude to stare, but I can't look away for some reason.

I had wanted very much to reach into my purse and get that pair of tweezers that I always bring with me, for some inane reason.

I stared at the friggin thing until she got off.

Which makes me wonder --

If I start getting more than a handful of white hair in my head, maybe I'll just dye everything white.

I just hope I can pull it off like this girl (no chance).

FS Picks of the Week, Sep 14-20

I'm frustrated (a little more than usual) because there's a chance I won't be able to go on that much-looked-forward to trip to the US next month -- it's a long story. Not all hope is lost, though... maybe.

I've also just learned last night that a cousin of mine was stabbed to death a couple of months ago and nobody's bothered to tell me. He was a dead-beat (pardon the pun), but nobody in the family would have wanted that to happen to him, so it's very sad. It's also creepy because my sisters and I have just seen him just a few days before he went missing (and we rarely go home to the province). His last words to us:

"Where's my money?"

I've digressed.

Anyway, new movies out this week -- not sure how good they are. I've put In My Life on my list because my mum's a big Vilma Santos fan. Hehe!

Darn bugs!

I've these two tiny bug bites on my wrist at the moment and they're itchy as hell. Reminds me of the time the cousin stayed over in the flat and she got bites all over. When we switched beds, I didn't get any and she said still got new ones.

Wonder if bugs prefer fairer skin?

I better get the bedbug spray out.

What did Mama tell you about strangers?

After I waded my intermittently barefoot ass around Ortigas to get to the shuttle bus service stop, I asked around where my specific queue was at. There were so many people at that stop and I wanted to make sure that I take the right one, or I would end up on the other side of the city.

At times like these, I wish I had bought myself a car instead of a lousy condo unit that I couldn't live in yet because the building's not up yet. The messes I get myself into! Being wet, stuck in commuter wasteland and hungry makes me want to get that nice Honday Jazz or Suzuki Swift IMMEDIATELY. But I'm as poor as a rat, so I'm gonna have to stick with this.

Anyway, I couldn't find my queue, so I asked around. After asking about 3 people, I managed to get the right one. It was loooooooong. I saw this other girl doing the same thing I did, asking around and then finally asked me about which queue I was in. When I said *bleep*, she sighed in relief.... and then I proceeded to chat to her about how I couldn't find it myself a while before and how everything was confusing and shit...

Me! Chat a complete stranger! I'm supposed to be terribly shy, but here I was, doing the monologue of my life with a complete, utter stranger! Somebody I DO NOT KNOW. I must've creeped the hell out of that woman.

Maybe stress really screws your brain up.

Would you wear these in public?

As I went out the office building last night, I realised that the sky was chucking buckets -- I didn't have a clue that there was a typhoon. I couldn't wait for it to let up, so I braved the rain and wind with my flimsy umbrella. If I waited any longer, I may not make it to the last shuttle bus home. Besides, I was wearing flipflops.

So it was pouring relentlessly, my bottom half was drenched in rain and just when I turned the corner I suddenly felt that my left foot is barefoot on the pavement -- my left flipflop was a couple of feet behind me. Grosssssss!!!

I hurriedly went back for it, miffed, and went off again.

And then, when I just about crossed the street, it happened again! This time with my right foot!

The whole annoying incident made me think.

What do people wear to walk in floods and extremely wet weather anyway?
I know wellies or galoshes are the most practical choice, but you won't catch me packing a pair of them into my bag. I mean, they're UGLY, right???

You can apparently get fashionable wellies now --

... in paisley print.

... or in leopard print.

But still, I don't think I can wear them.

So would I rather lose my flipflops on the sidewalk again? It's not something I'd look forward to, but has anyone out there got more alternatives???
