FS Picks of the Week, Jun 1-7

Every Monday, Frustrated Sosyalera will try to bring you the best of the week to come -- called FS Picks of the Week.

If I get the movie schedules wrong, I'm sorry. Sometimes the showing times aren't final 'til Wednesday, so pfttt. =P

I've seen the trailer for Drag Me to Hell and it was very promising. When I looked it up on RottenTomatoes.com, they gave it a 94% fresh rating!!! It was a damn shock! If only they would've thought of a more creative title, then it could've been perfect, maybe. Tsk.

Drag Me to Hell

Alison Lohman
Justin Long
Lorna Raver
Dileep Rao

Christine Brown (Alison Lohman) is an ambitious L.A. loan officer with a charming boyfriend, professor Clay Dalton (Justin Long). Life is good until the mysterious Mrs. Ganush (Lorna Raver) arrives at the bank to beg for an extension on her home loan. Should Christine follow her instincts and give the old woman a break? Or should she deny the extension to impress her boss, Mr. Jacks (David Paymer), and get a leg-up on a promotion? Christine fatefully chooses the latter, shaming Mrs. Ganush and dispossessing her of her home.

In retaliation, the old woman places the powerful curse of the Lamia on Christine, transforming her life into a living hell. Haunted by an evil spirit and misunderstood by a skeptical boyfriend, she seeks the aid of seer Rham Jas (Dileep Rao) to save her soul from eternal damnation. To help the shattered Christine return her life to normal, the psychic sets her on a frantic course to reverse the spell. As evil forces close in, Christine must face the unthinkable: how far will she go to break free of the curse? --© Universal Pictures

Ya, I thought it was a dumb title, too. I couldn't remember it. I told my hubby, "Let's watch that bank asst manager wannabe movie, the Go To Hell movie." Hehehaha

I want to see this movie as well. Hopefully it would be worth it. 'Cause I've seen quite a number of horror films that are shocking and terrifying, but in the end, you'll realize that they don't exactly make sense.

if you couldn't remember it, i couldn't forget it because i thought it was such a stupid title. hahaha!

saw it today. i don't get why it got such a high rating. i'm not saying it's bad but it's just your done-a-million-times-before scary flick albeit well done with raimi's name doing all the marketing. the characters are cliche. the ending is cliche. the plot as well. it's just slightly better than you average b+ horror movie.

see for yourself.

was it really? maybe the critics hadn't seen proper horror films for a while -- missed it perhaps?
