Where to eat in Guam -- Sushi Tairyo

Oh yes, Guam posts have not ended. There's loads more stuff I hadn't shown you people. Like if you're feeling Japanese for the day, where do you go eat some in Guam? We went to Sushi Tairyo for that.

Yup, the bf can't resist modeling for me. Hehe! Sushi Tairyo is located in the Tumon area, just ask around.

They've got this conveyor belt thingy where you just pick out the plate you feel like eating.

You're charged by the plate and the price of the plates depend on the colour. I think they range from $3 t o $5 -- I can't remember for sure. I was just there to eat. Hehehe!

Hung up over Pareng Steve

Like I said last Sunday, we went to the Dim Mak show at the Embassy last night to see pareng Steve Aoki, mister deeeejay.

I was never really that into Electro before, but pareng Steve just had me converted! It was an AWESOME show.

Ok, maybe I had a little TOO MUCH fun. A lot of the photos are shakey-shakey because the photographer/videographer (ehem, ME) was drunkie-poo.

I swear, I have never been this happy to come to work with a hangover. I was smilin' all day, it's damn weird.

Vicious cycle

Last week, my mood was so low. Many times, I was on the verge of tears. I thought my life was falling apart, nothing was going the way I wanted them to and just generally found it difficult to cope with ANYTHING. I kept ranting and whining, everyday and all night. As long as I'm awake, I'd be whingeing.

I thought nobody could possibly understand what I'm going through.

And then my period came.

Damn you, PMS.

Boracay Reef Walk

We didn't do any water activities while in Boracay, except for the Reef Walk. We only paid Php 500 for the 30-minute underwater-feeding-the-fish thingy, plus Php 600 for the CD of photos taken of the whole thing. Every other water activity would've cost us thousands of pesos.

Besides, it's about the only thing I can do... because I can't swim. Pfttt.

Unfortunately, our 30 minutes started on the boat. So that left us with (I think) 15 minutes underwater.

The helmet is half my weight at 35lbs, which becomes surprisingly lighter underwater. Which is how one can walk in the first place. Oxygen is pumped into it, so there will be tremendous pressure to the ears. People with ear problems, should probably forget about it.

So anyway, we were down there feeding the fish with bread(!), right? It was kind of interesting.

But I got bored 10 minutes in. Maybe if there were sharks (they apparently show up sometimes), it might have been a bit more exciting.

Oh, I do miss being on holiday. If I could get Small Business Loans, I might be able to afford going more often.

Milflores de Boracay

Guess where we stayed during the Boracay holiday?

Milflores de Boracay is a quirky non-beach front hotel. It's almost directly at the back of Station 1 at White Beach (where the sand is best).

The boys' room.

This will now be our "Boracay home" because we like that it's very well maintained and cheap at Php 3,300 a night during peak season.

I'm very particular with hotel toilets, and I found Milf's toilets quite awesome. I love big sinks!

Must. Resist. Camwhoring.

I so love the packaging on their toiletries!

They've got a fancy shower as well (couldn't take the whole thing in the photo).

All I can say is, we got really good value for our money while staying there. Hee!

Well, I do declare

... I won't have any more holidays for about 5 months.

Well... maybe a long and cheap weekend outside Manila. Or a joyride to the Antipolo boondocks, possibly.

Just cheap, cheap, cheap outings.

Let's see if I can save up for that big LA trip in October and hopefully, things run smoothly in the financial front.

It's not looking very good, though. Tsk.

Mommy, stop going out and have me groomed already!

Boracay sunset

Boracay has an amazing view of the sunset. I wouldn't miss it for the world.

If only my camera would cooperate and get rid of that glare, this photo would've been perfect.

Taking this photo of Jaja, I've realised that this was the best place to do silhouette photos!

So I've asked her to jump (mind you, she's one of the best jump shot posers that I know of).

Of course, I didn't want to be outdone.

This one didn't work very well, though, but it's ok.

Have nice evening, everyone!

Stress busted in Boracay

It has been confirmed -- I was poorly all of last week, right? Come Friday though, I was doing quite well. No tummy cramps within the borders of Boracay Island. All that shit (pun!) was due to stress. Pfttt.

Before anything else!

Hanlande ng lola!

For the benefit of non-Filipinos, you get to Boracay Island by taking a domestic flight to either Caticlan or Kalibo Airport. Caticlan is a lot easier though, because it cuts out the 2-hour land travel that you need to take when landing via Kalibo.

Then you take a small boat from Caticlan port to Boracay Island. You then take either a tricycle or the hotel service to your lodgings (that depends on whether you arranged a transfer service with your hotel).

Pose longkatootz!!!

The journey sounds complicated, but it's all worth it when you get there, so don't worry.

If you suddenly (heaven forbid) lose all your luggage (but not your wallet), you can buy almost anything out there. I've lost my beloved sunglasses just before I left, so I had to buy a cheap pair of fake Dior glasses from D'Mall (it's a bazaar place in the island where you can do all your shopping).

It was an excellent purchase at Php150, but I got really annoyed with the logo and had the bf take it off.

I would very much like to photoshop off that guy in the trunks because he ruined our photo, but I'm too lazy.

My own dot com?

My website address is so long that sometimes I feel annoyed that I have to type the whole thing down when posting it down somewhere during my internet wanderings.
I have been thinking about getting myself a "dot com" address to help its recall.

I have thought about webhosting, but I am not very confident with my tech skills and wonder if I can pull it off all by my lonesome. I have no idea what price would sound reasonable, how to get the most of the service and what is bundled with it.

So when I got into Webhostinggeeks.com, I was relieved to find that they had a page for the Best Web Hosts for 2009. Because they're all listed down and clearly states what their packages are, it was easy for me to compare them with each other. If that's not enough to help me pick the best service, there is also a page where customers post their reviews and rate the providers (which is how the Best Web Hosts are ranked).

Getting a webhosting service is not a decision I can make on a whim. Looks like I really have to read up on this one. At least I've found site that will help me, though. Whew.

We've got Duplicity, Accidental Husband and Night at the Museum 2. Akon was supposed to be performing on Sunday, but I guess he chickened out due to swine flu.

Duplicity

Starring
Julia Roberts
Clive Owen
Tom Wilkinson
Paul Giamatti

Synopsis
DUPLICITY is a slick, Soderberghian comic caper in which it’s never exactly clear who is being conned. It’s easy to see that ex-CIA agent Claire Stenwick (Julia Roberts) and former MI6 member Ray Koval (Clive Owen) have a heated history together when they embark on an elaborate mission of corporate espionage.

Accidental Husband

Starring
Uma Thurman
Colin Firth
Jeffrey Dean Morgan
Sam Shepard

Synopsis
New York firefighter Patrick Sullivan had no idea his seemingly idyllic life was about to go up in smoke – especially as the unwitting, second-hand recipient of advice from famed love expert and radio host Dr. Emma Lloyd. One day he is a happy, go-lucky guy looking forward to a life with his soon-to-be-bride. The next thing you know, his fiancée Sophia (Justina Machado) is seeking couples counseling on the radio from Dr. Lloyd. The no-nonsense, ever practical Dr. Lloyd questions Sophia’s concept of romantic love and advises her to break their engagement, which she swiftly does. But when Patrick and his computer-savvy neighbor decide to give Dr. Lloyd a taste of her own medicine and “accidentally” join them in holy matrimony – something that doesn’t go over too well with her fiancée (played by Colin Firth) -- it isn’t long before they learn that sometimes even an expert in love needs a second opinion.

Night at the Museum 2: Battle of the Smithsonian

Starring
Ben Stiller
Amy Adams
Owen Wilson
Hank Azaria

It's a new "Night" and "Museum" for Ben Stiller, who is joined by several other stars from the original film, as well as new characters from history. The centerpiece of the film will be bringing to life the Smithsonian Institution, which houses the world's largest museum complex with more than 136 million items in its collections, ranging from the plane Amelia Earhart flew on her nonstop solo flight across the Atlantic and Al Capone's rap sheet and mug shot to Dorothy's ruby red slippers and Archie Bunker's lounge chair. No major film has ever shot inside the Smithsonian in Washington…until Night at the Museum 2: Battle of the Smithsonian. --© 20th Century Fox

I didn't forget!

Thank goodness our hotel has free wi-fi. Hee!

What was the state of my bruises when I arrived in sunny Boracay this morning?

Yeah, it's still there and it looks like a giant hickey! I've been using a warm compress (sorry Edpascasio, I didn't get around to trying the vinegar -- being sick and too busy at work, I couldn't manage to sneak out to buy groceries) and it really did help the clotting underneath the skin to thin out quicker. Obviously, it wasn't quick enough. It's fine, really, it looks a hell of a lot better than it used to this time last week. If I didn't do anything about it, this appearance might have come about after 3 weeks or more.

Thanks for everyone's advice! I will keep them in mind for next time. I only hope my clumsiness won't be that severe again, though.

So anyway, this part of the beach isn't that great because of the clumps of seaweed. Other parts are quite nice, though, the weather is awesome and walking on very fine white sand feels absolutely therapeutic. I decided to just use a long cover-up to disguise my bruises in broad daylight. Heh.

Ciao ciao!

Don't bother if you're eating

I wanted to talk about something significant (like the weather), but instead I'll talk about me. I don't recall eating anything weird last Sunday, but I've been feeling quite poorly since.

Yesterday, it was so bad I had to go home early. I thought it was trapped wind, but I had drained all the air out of me and the pain was still there. I've also taken antacids, which also failed.

Now, I'm trying Buscopan and it helped a bit, however, I now have IBS (look it up).

I won't go to the doctor unless it's absolutely necessary (I hate hospitals and clinics).

I'm beginning to think that the universe is against me going to my Boracay holiday on Friday -- I'm black and blue (from the fall) and now I have a stomach upset.

What's next, I wonder?

With that, I'm off to Poo-land.

Where to eat in Guam -- Ban Thai

I'm hardly the expert, let's get that clear. Before first timers jump into that plane, they might ask themselves what and where they will be eating in Guam, I will therefore volunteer the information myself. Aside from the normal mall chow like Taco Bell, Denny's, Sbarro, Burger King and Yellow Cab Pizza, you can also find California Pizza Kitchen (CPK), Tony Roma's and Capricciosa there (if you hate going cheap).

The hosts have taken me to Ban Thai for dinner on my first night. Apparently, the local cuisine isn't a big influence out here. I don't mean anything by that, it's just what I've been told by my not-so-excellent tourguide (i.e. the bf).

I'm always up for Thai food, but as the servings are quite large, we couldn't order more than two dishes (otherwise that'd be really greedy).

Veggie Spring Rolls

Red Chicken Curry

I aim to please, but I sure say damn a whole damn lot... damnit!

I feel like I'm intruding on a mother/son date. Hehe.
